Greenville storytellers: Love changes the lives of six Upstate residents - Greenville News

A wedding, a blizzard and a pearl.

Those were the key ingredients that led to love changing Bobbi Diussa's life in 1961. The Greenville resident was among six who shared a story on how love changed their lives at The Greenville News Storytellers event on Tuesday night. It was a night of laughter, smiles, tears and applause.

Local businesswoman Laura Egelhoff shared a story on how her love for the band Guns N' Roses changed her middle school life.

Other tellers were TALK Magazine editor Kim Hassold, former Greenville News columnist Reese Fant, retired broadcaster Sherry Smith and retired teacher Lynne Murrell.

The Greenville Storytellers Project puts local people on stage to share true, first-person stories. These stories might inspire us, connect us, make us laugh — and, often, they explore life’s more complicated truths. Some could be funny and others more serious.

We also are proud to announce that Humana has joined as our first national sponsor. The partnership will serve to inspire and enhance the attendee experience on Storyteller Project nights. As part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, the Storytellers Project has brought more than 6,000 people to stages across the country. These oral storytelling events celebrate the idea that when we share our stories we become more invested in one another and in our community.
