Drew Carey's tearful tribute to slain ex Amie Harwick, who he 'was still so in love with' - Page Six

Drew Carey broke down as he played the love songs he cherished with former fiancée Amie Harwick — insisting they were still in love when she was killed by an ex-boyfriend she was “deathly afraid of.”

Carey, 61, fought back tears on his Sirius XM radio show as he recalled the “beautiful, great, best relationship of my life” with the 38-year-old celebrity sex therapist who was thrown from her Hollywood Hills balcony.

“She was beautiful and fun, and cared deeply about people and improving their lives and was just a joy to be around. And I was so in love with her,” he said on his “Drew Carey’s Friday Night Freak-Out.”

“She was murdered on Valentine’s night by an ex-boyfriend that had been stalking her for about 10 years and she was deathly afraid of, even afraid of him when we were in the relationship.

“He finally got her and killed her,” Carey told his listeners.

“I just want to say, I’m so broken up,” he said. “Even after we broke up, we still loved each other very much. Even though we broke up the engagement, I was still so in love with her. And she loved me back.”

Carey said he wanted to pay tribute to his ex — but was so torn up he would be taking a break from his show because he is “in really no position to work or entertain anybody right now.”

But he shared a selection of love songs he had made for Harwick that left her “teared up” when he first played them for her.

“I could never hear these songs again without thinking of her, so this next set is for Amie Harwick, a beautiful person who didn’t deserve to die like she did. And I loved her very much,” he said.

The tunes included the Four Seasons’ “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” The “5” Royales’ “Dedicated to the One I Love” and The Rascals’ “A Girl Like You,” Sirius said.

“We would sing the words in each other’s ears. We would hold each other and dance in the kitchen to it and slow dance in the bathroom to it, and the office, living room or where we were,” he recalled.

“And I would hold her and we would hold hands in the car and listen to it and sing to each other. All these songs were so important to us and I want to play them for you, so you can hear how much we loved each other through these songs.”

Gareth Pursehouse, 41, is charged with murder and first-degree residential burglary with the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait. The charges make him eligible for the death penalty.

He is being held in Los Angeles County Jail with no bail.
