STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- Annadale native Nicole Zanatta got offered the work deal of a lifetime. She traveled to New Zealand to live in an over-the-top home with attractive single people and get paid to look for love within her living situation.
That dream soon turned in to a nightmare when the Tottenville High School graduate realized the “pilot dating show” she signed up for was “Ex on the Beach: Peak of Love,” a spinoff to the popular MTV series “Ex on the Beach.” Houseguests were told on the first episode of the series that they will be greeted by someone from their past, while trying to “find their next” during the reality show experience.
“As soon as I was told it was ‘Ex On The Beach: Peak of Love,’ I knew I could be in trouble,” Zanatta told SILive.com. “I have a lot of ex’s and the opportunity was there to meet a new person that could possibly start a new relationship.”
“I love living in house with all new people, and interacting with everyone is always a great time,” she added.
This Staten Islander is no stranger to the MTV dating scene. After making her reality TV debut on “The Real World: Skeletons,” Zanatta has graced the small screen in MTV programming like “The Challenge" and “Game of Clones." Zanatta’s boisterous “out and proud” Italian-American presence -- along with “player mentality” makes her a noted player in the dating game.
‘I LOVE TO FLIRT’
“Ex on the Beach: Peak of Love,” now nine episodes into its first spin-off season, has brought a few of Zanatta’s exes to “the Peak” of New Zealand; Ashley Ceasar, Laurel Stucky and Jemmye Carrol. In the “Peak of Love” house, Zanatta followed a short-lived connection with Sydney Langston, ex of former housemate Daniel Maguire.
“I love to flirt, guys or girls, the more attention they give me just fuels my emotions," Zanatta said. “Unfortunately, on the show, I gave someone a little more attention than I should have. When my 'ex’ that I still had feelings for showed up, I kind of didn’t take into consideration her feelings.”
“I did very much apologize. I know how it looked on television, but in my defense, I did tell her if that person showed up, it would be over,” Zanatta continued.
BTW: She’s not the only Staten Islander burned by “Ex on the Beach.” Victoria Alario of Bulls Head joined the cast of the show’s previous season. Luckily for her, the show was filmed in Hawaii on an actual beach.
NICOLE’S LIFE OFF CAMERA
“I’m recognized quite often," Zanatta said. “My most memorable encounter was when I was working and after we just finished addressing a house fire, someone asked me to take a picture with them. I refused and felt bad [about it.]”
“I really never say no to pictures [but] I prefer to keep my reality TV life and career separated,” Zanatta continued.
