Kevin Love likely would be one of the most attractive options for the Warriors in the buyout market next season, but the forward's agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski he has no interest in a contract buyout from the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"There have been no talks with Cleveland on a buyout, nor is there any interest from Kevin in doing a buyout," Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports told ESPN.
Love has two years and $60 million remaining on his contract with Cleveland. The 32-year-old was limited to 25 games last season for the Cavaliers due to a lingering calf injury. Love averaged 12.2 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 36.5 percent from 3-point range in 2020-21.
The Cavaliers have explored trading Love but haven't found a suitable offer as of yet, Wojnarowski reported citing sources.
Cleveland's frontcourt has gotten crowded this offseason, as center Jarrett Allen signed a five-year, $100 million contract to remain with the Cavaliers after being traded there during the season. Cleveland then drafted 7-foot phenom Evan Mobley with the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. On Friday, the Cavaliers executed a sign-and-trade with the Chicago Bulls for power forward Lauri Markkanen, Wojnarowski reported citing league sources.

Love could give the Warriors size and an ability to stretch the floor, something the current frontcourt struggles with. A trade seems unlikely given that the Warriors wouldn't be willing to give anyone up for Love that Cleveland would have interest in. Plus, the Warriors absolutely have no room for two years and $60 million on what already is the league's highest payroll.
The Warriors certainly will continue to monitor the situation as the 2021-22 season progresses, as productive veterans on underperforming teams often end up being bought out at some point. Gary Payton II could be a candidate to earn the Warriors' final roster spot, but general manager Bob Myers also indicated the spot could be held for a veteran buyout later in the season.
Free agent Paul Millsap has been rumored to be interested in signing with the Warriors, and he offers some of the same traits that Love could bring to the rotation.
Love likely won't be among that shortlist for the Warriors' front office this season, but things can change quickly in the NBA.
