Simone Biles continues to support her fellow gymnasts from the sidelines as she focuses on her mental health.
After shockingly pulling out of Tuesday’s team all-around final and Thursday’s final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics, Biles was spotted cheering on the U.S. men’s gymnastics team during the all-around final event on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old appeared to be in good spirits alongside fellow gymnast MyKayla Skinner. Cameras captured Biles blowing kisses, while the two Americans sported matching red, white and blue Team USA sweatshirts and black face masks.
Skinner — a first-time Olympian who competed as an individual and not as a member of Team USA — failed to qualify for any event final after competing on all four apparatuses.
As Biles continues to prioritize her mental health, 21-year-old Jade Carey has been called up to replace her in Thursday’s individual all-around final.

“We wholeheartedly support Simone’s decision and applaud her bravery in prioritizing her well-being,” USA Gymnastics said in a statement. “Her courage shows, yet again, why she is a role model for so many.”
Biles, after withdrawing from Tuesday’s team all-around final, confirmed her absence wasn’t due to injury.
“I was just like shaking, could barely nap,” she said in a press conference about the hours leading up to the team’s all-around competition. “I never felt like this going into a competition before … so I just once I came out here I was like, ‘No, mental is not there, so I just need to let the girls do it and focus on myself.'”
Team USA ended up placing second and won silver behind the Russian Olympic Committee, which won gold.
For now, Biles is taking things “one day at a time” as she continues to “work on my mindfulness.”
