Netflix has slated the Woody Harrelson-narrated nature documentary Kiss the Ground from Josh and Rebecca Tickell’s Big Picture Ranch (Fuel, The Big Fix).
The film, an official selection of the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, examines the idea that regenerating the Earth’s soils could rapidly stabilize the climate, restore local ecosystems and create abundant food supplies.
Initial footage for the film was shot nearly a decade ago in Africa by executive producer Ian Somerhalder (pictured; The Vampire Diaries). Somerhalder and the Tickells partnered with non-profit organization Kiss the Ground to create the documentary.
Kiss the Ground is produced by the Tickells with Bill Benenson, Ryland Engelhart and Darius Fisher.
With Somerhalder, the film is executive produced by the likes of Brazilian model Gisele Bündchen and singer Julian Lennon — son of John Lennon — in addition to Laurie Benenson, Bill Cameron, John Paul DeJoria, Pedro Diniz, Anna Getty, George Hagerman, RJ Jain, Jena King, Michelle LeRach, Melony & Adam Lewis, Craig McCaw, Angus Mitchell, Elizabeth Moore, Stephen Nemeth, Larry O’Conner, John Roulac, Regina K. Scully, Nicole Shanahan, Jon & Susan Sheinberg, Mark Sims, Iris Smith, and Tara and Brian Swibel.
As well as Bündchen and Somerhalder, those featured in the film include musician Jason Mraz and actor David Arquette.
Kiss the Ground premieres Sept. 22.
