Love Is Blind's Mark Defends Jessica From Haters, 'Walk a Mile In Someone's Shoes' - Screen Rant

Jessica Batten became the ultimate Love is Blind villain for giving her dog wine and stealing movie quotes. She snatched this infamous spot away from Matt Barnett, who seemed like he would occupy that space in season 1. Love is Blind fans didn’t know what to make of Barnett as he became torn between three women, but when he moved on and picked Amber Pike, the villain hat completely shifted to Jessica.

Jessica didn’t do much to save herself as she gave the Love is Blind editors  plenty of cringey footage, especially involving her then-fiancĂ© Mark Cuevas. Mark and Jessica didn’t have a combative relationship, they just didn’t seem to have the same level of commitment and plans for their future.

Screen Rant interviewed Mark Cuevas and went more in-depth about his relationship with Jessica, seeing how everything played out on screen, and the fans reaction to her portrayal. Mark spoke kindly of Jessica and even said “We're cool. We're at that place where we're not super close, but at the end of the day you go through something with someone together that, it's hard to not keep in touch."

The two have been very amicable since their dramatic breakup, and fans have had many hard feelings toward Jessica. Mark doesn’t feel that way. He asked those saying negative things about Jessica to consider this:

I would say to anybody giving her too hard of a time, everybody handles things differently. Walk a mile in someone's shoes, right? And so, you can't really say, ‘Oh, I would have done this or this or that.’ This is such an expedited process, and it's easy to see it from the outside view. Would someone handle it differently? Maybe, but there's some folks who might have done it the same exact way. You can't hate someone for how they had that response. But again, it's all a learning lesson.

Wise words from Mark. He also shared if he suspected that Jessica might have had doubts about their relationship before walking down the aisle.

Again, it was a very tough experience. There was a lot of ups and downs from, I would say, both of us being like, ‘We don't know…’ Honestly, we didn't even know what the other person was going to say until the very end. For me, I just stuck to my truth. I knew that once I saw her walking down the aisle, I was like, ‘I fell in love with this woman.’ And that's what I saw when I saw her in a white wedding dress with my family present. You know, I promised myself from the beginning that I was going to be myself no matter what.

It’s nice to see that Jessica’s portrayal on the series hasn’t changed how Mark sees his ex, and he has grown from his Love is Blind experience.
