Amber said Rory Newbrough helped her decide to get engaged to Matt Barnett while they were still in the pods on Love Is Blind. Rory was seen playing matchmaker with many of the guys. He was also helping Amber in the pods figure out her emotions for Matt.
Matt and Amber were one of two couples to wed at the end of Love Is Blind, along with fan favorites Lauren and Cameron Hamilton. Although the show filmed a year and a half before airing, they remain together to this day. During the show, all of the couples that proposed went on a romantic trip to Mexico, where Amber and Barnett first spent time together outside of the pods. They are now living in an apartment in Atlanta, the city the entire cast was pulled from. During the Love Is Blind reunion, the two talked about having some bumps in the road in their marriage. During a conversation with them, their chemistry was evident over the phone. They are enjoying time with their dog, keeping occupied during self-quarantine by watching plenty of movies. Matt also likes to play Call of Duty while Amber catches up on her romance novels.
Amber told Screen Rant that Rory played a big factor in helping her choose Barnett. While Rory was engaged on the show too, his love story was cut out of the edit. He and his fiancée, along with another couple, were told to go home after they met face to face. Amber said she connected with a few of the other guys, notably Mark Cuevas and Damian Powers. She flirted with several other guys, but said of Matt, "There was nobody else that I really felt, 'Okay, I would accept a proposal from this person.'"
Rory sensed this from Amber and asked, "Who's your number one?" She responded that it was Matt. He asked who was her No. 2. She hesitated. This gave Rory all the information he needed to know. Rory said, "If you had to think about it? You don't have a close second. There's only one person."
The advice from Rory the relationship expert proved to be sound, as Amber and Matt remain together to this day. Meanwhile, Rory's engagement on the show didn't last. Oftentimes, the best people at offering relationship advice are the ones who struggle to find it themselves. Let's hope Rory finds another solid partner, if he hasn't already, because he seemed like a genuinely good guy.
