SHIP BOTTOM — On Tuesday afternoon a special surprise parade took place in Ship Bottom designed to wish love, support and many prayers for Patrick Harrington and the Harrington family in Pat's fight against cancer.
Pat grew up in the Stafford-LBI area, graduated from Southern Regional High School, is a Ship Bottom lifeguard and a very special person. Pat is a solid athlete, he loves surfing and was a good basketball player back in the day. He finds himself in recent days fighting against Hodgkins Lymphoma.
Pat's battle has been going on for approximately one year. He has maintained a great attitude and his parents Jim and Denise are incredibly supportive. The Harrington's are a beloved family in our area. Many family and friends are standing besides them following Pat's condition and treatment.
Pat's friend Frank Ritacco got the idea to set up today's surprise. He knew Pat was readying for a new special cancer treatment this week. The parade included about 75 cars greeting Pat and the family in front of the home. The many friends paraded in their cars, honked their horns, shared signs of support and shouted out love to Pat.
The Ship Bottom Fire Department and Police Department led the parade with sirens sounding and lights a blazing. Mark Keeler of MK Productions set up a sound system and played some of Pat's favorite tunes. You can see and hear the entire parade right here in the video clip below.
Denise wrote
"We are so humbled by the love and support shown to Pat Trick today in the Positivity Parade. If you participated, thank you, thank you, thank you so very much.
"Pat starts new treatment this week," wrote Mark Keeler. "So we are trying to give him some positive energy and prayers."
Today Pat wrote on his Facebook page the following:
"I am really humbled by the love shown to me today. I love you all from the bottom of my heart" 🍀#P$TRONG.
