Said to give a person the gift of eloquence and persuasiveness, kissing the Blarney Stone has become a longstanding tradition - one that many people have been keen to return to it seems.
People have been wondering whether or not you can you kiss the Blarney Stone again and as it turns out, you can. Giving visitors the go-ahead to give it a smooch if they'd like, staff at Blarney Castle have confirmed that the stone will be thoroughly disinfected between visitors.
Taking to social media to detail what visitors can expect going forward, the team at Blarney Castle and Gardens wrote:
"On the 29th of June 2020, we will reopen Blarney Castle & the Blarney Stone allowing it to be kissed by any of our visitors if they choose to do so.
This was the first time in its history that it was not possible to kiss the stone, and the response to this was staggering with messages of support from all over the world."
Assuring people that they've gone to "great lengths" over the last number of months, the team has worked with environmental company Eva to develop a cleanser that will be used to clean the stone in between visitors.
"We will now be using a cleanser that is W.H.O approved and will kill 99.9% of germs, bacteria etc that may be on the stone. This has been tested on the stone to show its effectiveness in killing bacteria/viruses but also that it is safe for people to come in contact with."
Staff members holding anyone brave enough to kiss the stone will be required to wear a protective face shield and gloves and will be subject to having their temperature checked daily before starting work.
Visitor numbers will be limited to allow for proper social distancing and several hand sanitiser stations have also been set up throughout the castle grounds.
