The Z-List honors and pays tribute to today’s real champions at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lowell for all their “Club Love!”
Back in March, when schools closed due to the pandemic, the champion club staff members quickly stepped into action and adapted to meet the needs of the community by preparing, packaging and delivering “grab & go” meals to families and youths in the area. Word spread rapidly throughout the community, and the club sought increased funding to provide not only lunch but dinner too, each weekday.
Within a few weeks of starting this great service, the club was serving an amazing 500 meals per day to young people in the community via this “grab & go” system. The club champions also began distributing family care packages with additional meals to be prepared over the weekend, along with toiletries and other household items each Friday.
As of mid-June, the Boys and Girls Club had served an outstanding 31,663 “grab & go” meals and 898 family weekend packages. They will continue to serve these lunches all summer long, with 250 meals to give out each day to non-members. Now that is “Club Love!”
