Artur Henrik’s professional debut was a successful one.
The Bremen-based Henrik, a former amateur standout in Germany, picked apart Nicaraguan journeyman Miguel Aguilar over four rounds in a middleweight bout on the undercard of the Agit Kabayel-Evgenios Lazaridis main event from Seebühne Elbauenpark in Magdeburg, Germany (ESPN+).
Henrik (1-0) toyed with Aguilar (11-66-1, 5 KOs), blitzing him with fast-fire, four-punch combinations all night long. He began pupping Aguilar’s head back in the third round with a slew of uppercuts.
By the fourth and final round, Henrik was doing his own version of the “Ali Shuffle.”
The card took place in front of sparse, socially-distanced crowd, outside, on the banks of a river.
Also on the card, Nina Meinke clearly didn’t allow the Covid-19 pandemic to affect her boxing ability.
The 27-year-old Berliner was in top form as she dominated Hungary’s Edina Kiss over 8 rounds in a women’s featherweight bout.
How easy was it for Meinke? She was laughing and smiling in her corner between rounds.
Kiss, the go-to opponent for many female fighters in the United States – she has fought Heather Hardy, the Serrano sisters, Helen Joseph, Mikaela Mayer, and Shelly Vincent – was clearly unable to hang with the fleet-footed Meinke.
The southpaw Meinke, who was stopped by Katie Taylor back in 2017, worked diligently behind a pawing jab and repeatedly connected with straight lefts. Her speed was too much for Kiss.
Midway through Round 5, Meinke landed two double rights, shaking up Kiss and causing her to hold.
Meinke improves to 10-2 (3 KOs), as Kiss drops to 15-13 (9 KOs).
