5 Fantasy Movies Cancer Will Love (& 5 They Will Hate) - Screen Rant

Fantasy movies are a popular genre that any person can love regardless of their astrological sign. But, while each individual is different, there are certain traits that many people with the same sun sign share.

While Cancers are known for being the protectors of home and hearth in the zodiac, this doesn’t mean they don’t also love a good fantasy or adventure story. However, there are some stories that would appeal to them more than others.

10 Love: The Fellowship of the Ring

While many people enjoy The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring would appeal especially to Cancers. This story starts out in a very homey place with creature comforts, and a Cancer would love the aesthetics of the Shire.

They would also be attached to Frodo’s journey as he starts out and has to find a lot of determination inside of himself since Cancers are also a rather strong group of people who can have a tough outer shell.

9 Hate: Maleficent

Maleficent

Maleficent is a rather dark story, but this isn’t why a Cancer wouldn’t like it. All of the signs of the zodiac can enjoy films that are dark and depressing as well as those that are upbeat and uplifting.

However, a person with this sun sign would likely be very upset about the tragic backstory of Maleficent and how she was betrayed and assaulted. Cancers are sensitive but also known for being extremely protective, and this wouldn’t sit well with them.

8 Love: Howl’s Moving Castle

Just like all of the water signs, Cancers can be rather ruled by their emotions and feel them deeply. While not quite as romantic or fantastical in their thinking as a Pisces, they can be quite romantic and get deeply attached to people.

Howl’s Moving Castle would appeal to the aesthetic they like of home and comfort, but it would also appeal to their romantic sides that show how love can be unexpected and be used to protect others.

7 Hate: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

While the world of Harry Potter would definitely appeal to a Cancer, and they would likely enjoy many of the other films in the franchise, the second movie in the Fantastic Beasts series wouldn’t appeal to them very much.

This is because this is a story that has a lot of betrayal in it by characters such as Queenie. Cancers are loyal and don’t take kindly to people betraying those they care about.

6 Love: Labyrinth

Labyrinth is a classic fairy story in many ways, and while it might be a bit more fantastical than some more pragmatic Cancers usually are, it would appeal to their dramatic and romantic sides.

Cancers can be possessive at times, so this is something they could relate to in this story. They could also relate to Sarah’s journey to save her baby brother and choose to protect him in the end.

5 Hate: The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

Luke Evans as Bard and Lee Pace as Thranduil in The Hobbit Battle of Five Armies

The world of The Lord of the Rings would especially attract many Cancer sun, moon, or rising signs, but this doesn’t mean they would love every movie in the franchise. While Cancers can seem traditional in some ways, they have a rather tenacious and spontaneous side that often surprises people.

They would likely not be impressed by the more traditional but harmful ways certain characters in this movie act. For example, they would likely get annoyed by the relationship between Tauriel and Kili that takes away from the familial bonds of the original story.

4 Love: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Unlike the last movie in The Hobbit trilogy, the first movie would appeal to a Cancer sign quite a bit. This story is similar in some ways to The Fellowship of the Ring in that it starts in a place of home and comfort and then branches out into adventure.

They would also enjoy the more lighthearted feel of this movie as a good way to escape from life when they get caught up in the emotions of others around them.

3 Hate: Into the Woods

Into the Woods is an interesting tale because the first half is all a very traditional fairy tale story where things seem like they will all be tied up in a pretty bow. But, in the second act, things start to fall apart.

This musical’s message is that happy endings don’t always last and things aren’t always what they seem, and this could really bother the Cancer sign as they like to believe that love and home can beat all.

2 Love: Practical Magic

Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock in Practical Magic

Practical Magic is a wonderful tale of sisterhood, family, and witchcraft. The aesthetics of modern good witches are appealing to many Cancers, and they would be attached to the close family bonds of the Owens sisters and relate to a dark tale of feeling cursed by love.

But, in the end, the bonds of love and family win out, and this would inspire the Cancer’s protective, give-your-all heart.

1 Hate: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

While some Cancers are a bit more fanciful than others, and they aren’t nearly as practical as an Earth sign would be, they are a little less prone to the whimsical than a Pisces and less interested in mysticism than a Scorpio.

As such, the weird, dark undertones of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory would bother them as it’s a story where the rules aren’t very clearly laid out.
