Walls of Love was created by founder Holly Jackson with the mission of providing basic necessities within regions of poverty in various cities including Houston.

... moreWalls of Love, which provides basic necessities to people who are homeless around the country, has now arrived in Houston.
According to the Coalition for the Homeless, "the 2019 Homeless Count & Survey shows that we can expect to see 3,938 people experiencing homelessness at any given moment in the Houston region."
Holly Jackson, the founder of Walls of Love, created this initiative in the heart of Cleveland, Ohio, with the mission to "spread love in the community to support those in need without stigma," according to the website.

"I once was homeless and pregnant after leaving a violent domestic violence situation," said Jackson to Chron.com.
"I wasn't able to get the help I needed at the time after humbling myself to ask, and I was often judged and stigmatized, said Jackson. "I never want people to feel like that for needing help. So... I came up with a way for people to get what they need, without judgment, and where they can still feel human."
According to Jackson, 507 Walls of Love have been placed in areas throughout the country with an estimated 100,000 individuals helped. Ten are permanent walls across 12 states.
"I'm hoping the wall will let those in need know that there are genuinely people who love and care about them and their situation," said Jackson.
The Houston wall is located near City Hall at 901 Bagby and is lined with bags that include toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and non-perishable food items.
Jackson said another wall will be added in Houston with the location yet to be determined, and encouraged anyone that would like to donate to the project or sponsor a wall to contact her at wallsoflove216@gmail.com.
"Anyone is just an illness or job loss away from being in the same situation. We need more love and less judgments," said Jackson.
