Rock star Gene Simmons, frontman for the legendary band KISS, has put his Hollywood Hills home up for sale for nearly NZ$3.3 million.
Simmons, 70, bought the property for NZ$2.15 million in 2013, according to realtor.com. The home was built in 1968.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home sits on a gated private road atop Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, California. The split-level house features walls of glass to take in panoramic views that span the downtown Los Angeles skyline, the Hollywood Sign, Griffith Park Observatory, Santa Monica Mountains, and all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
The views and the privacy of the property is what makes it unique, says listing agent Lisa Young of Compass.

“The property offers unmatched views,” she told The Sacramento Bee. “Immediately when you enter the property you’re impacted by the explosive views at one of the highest points in Laurel Canyon. On a gated street with only a few homes it offers privacy and the serenity of nature. It’s a really special home.”
The 218-square-metre house has an open and airy floor plan with two welcoming living spaces. Spacious decks span all three levels.
“Imagine waking up to morning fog rolling in over the hills or unwinding in the evening to the vibrant sunsets over the Santa Monica Mountains,” the listing states.
The kitchens and baths have been updated featuring Carrera marble countertops, stainless steel appliances and other modern amenities.
“This unique property is truly one-of-kind, and has been home to numerous celebrities,” besides Simmons, according to the listing.

The property offers unmatched views.
Young told realtor.com that Simmons is selling because he’s “actively investing in other areas”.
The rock legend and his wife Shannon Tweed, also own a long-time mansion in Beverly Hills, which was the setting for their reality TV show, The Family Jewels.
That mansion is a European-style estate with 10 bathrooms, a tennis court and a pool.
Simmons co-founded KISS in the early 1970s. He is the band’s bassist and vocalist. Known for their outrageous makeup and costumes, the rock group has put out 20 studio albums and sold more than 75 million records, one of the best-selling groups ever.
