BOONE, N.C. – Three High Country counties have joined together to deliver one message to their communities.

What You Need To Know

  • Watauga, Ashe, and Alleghany Counties join together for "Show Your Love" campaign

  • The campaign is meant to give one clear positive message to residents and visitors

  • The campaign will be expanded to help small business and frontline workers

"Show Your Love" is a new campaign by Watauga, Ashe, and Alleghany Counties.

The initiative was started with help from the health department to deliver clear and positive messages to those in the communities as well as visitors. The first message is a reminder of the three W's, but they plan to expand it to help small business and front line workers.

Business owners in Blowing Rock say they are happy with the campaign. After a nearby town attempted to expand its quarantine period and issued a mask rule, it found customers to be confused.

Mountain Thread Company owner Katherine Lile says people think of the High Country as one unit, so it is important they stand together.

“Folks are coming to the area to experience not only one little spot but everything they love, and if they hear one message from one place and a different message from another place it just builds confusion instead of clarity of what their experience can be," Lile says.

Some areas do have individual restrictions as well.

The Town of Boone is currently asking everyone to wear masks in public indoor spaces and has posted signs for crosswalks to remain one way.
