We have heard “Love your neighbor as yourself." Great! Will you still love your neighbor when you know that he/she is your enemy? If practically applied, the concept "Love Your Enemies" could bring ultimate peace in this world. Yet, this concept evaporates from peace talks. Numerous philosophies convince us why not to love our enemies. If you try to do anything loving for your enemy, then your enemy hurts you or your own people turn against you. Either way, persecution is guaranteed. This concept indeed was not meant for World Peace.
Then, why should someone still love enemies? I notice that the person, who first taught this revolutionary concept, not only loved His enemies but also died at the hands of His enemies. This inspired me to apply this concept in my life.
For the last nine years, my one and only son, Arnav, is being kept away from me, by his abductors (my enemies). When I just thought (prayed) for good things to happen to my enemies, my heart became peaceful. Isn't that fascinating! How wonderful would it be to actually do something good to my enemies? Truly, it is a concept of The Kingdom of Heaven, where all human beings, including enemies, are perceived to be created in God's own image. Perhaps this is the reason why we should love our enemies. Hence, I strive to love those who are keeping my son away from me. I pray for their betterment because I have adapted a concept of "Love your Enemies."
This week is the birthday of my Arnav. I haven't seen him since 2012. I may never ever get any chance to meet him in person. With a hope that he will read this in the future, I want to say, "Arnav, I love you. Happy birthday!"
