10 Movie Kisses That Live Rent-Free In My Mind, And 9 That I Just Wish I Could Forget - BuzzFeed

rindusare.blogspot.com

Will and Elizabeth's kiss in Pirates of the Caribbean is the best wedding scene of all time, and I will die on this hill.

1. Noah and Allie's kiss in The Notebook makes me believe in love.

New Line Cinema/ Courtesy Everett Collection

Starting with the classic that gave middle school me completely unrealistic expectations when it came to romance. We've got the powerful buildup, the impossible hotness levels, the chemistry, and THAT RAIN! Swoon! This kiss = cinematic perfection.

2. But Luke and Leia's kiss in Star Wars completely grosses me out.

Disney

Okay, I know they're unaware of it at the time of the kiss, but Luke and Leia are RELATED. And not just some distant cousin you never met. Oh, no. They are BROTHER AND SISTER. Twins, in fact! *shudders* I hope I never see such a kiss in any movie, ever again.

3. In Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Will and Elizabeth's kiss in the middle of battle is the greatest wedding scene of all time.

Disney

A little strange for my favorite wedding kiss, but hear me out: A spontaneous wedding just SCREAMS romance. Their fighting choreography emphasizes their seamless teamwork, and you just know they're perfect for each other. And asking Barbosa of all people to marry them! So funny! This scene really captures the love and humor that the couple has built up over the series. And my god, the camera circling them to capture their passionate, rain-filled kiss is freaking gold.

4. But Fat Amy and Bumper's kiss in Pitch Perfect 2 is just too much.

Universal

I think we can all agree that a little tongue can be hot AF. But tongue is like sriracha: a little goes a long way. Fat Amy and Bumper's kiss is a great example of wayyy too much. If your tongue is sliding into your man's nostrils, it's safe to say you're overdoing it. Obviously, the kiss is meant to be extra and comical and all that, but it's a bit much for me.

5. Lakita and Jamal's kiss in Slumdog Millionaire proves that love conquers all.

Pathé Distribution

As Jamal runs toward Latika at the train station, memories fly across the screen, and you're reminded of the epic scope of their journey and how hard they worked to be reunited. She looks down when he sees her scar, but he softly kisses it to show her that she's perfect despite what's happened to her. Then, their lips touch so tenderly that it just melts your heart. Plus, it leads into one of the best dance scenes of all time!

6. But in Harry Potter, Ginny and Harry's first kiss has ZERO chemistry.

Warner Bros.

In the books, Harry and Ginny's relationship is nothing short of epic. In the movies, it's a freaking abomination. Ginny Weasley was not born to tie Harry Potter's shoes!!! IDK who wrote that scene, but I'm guessing it was a man. *eye roll* Anyways, their kisses are all awkward AF and truly uncomfortable to watch, ESPECIALLY their first kiss, where even the actors seem completely unenthusiastic. The secondhand embarrassment is REAL.

7. Peter and Mary Jane's kiss in Spider-Man still lives rent-free in my mind.

Columbia Pictures/ Courtesy Everett Collection

When this movie came out, I was 8 years old. I didn't even know you COULD kiss someone upside down! It was so cool to watch (even though my mom tried to cover my eyes). Even now, it seems super sexy. Pulling down a superhero's mask just enough to kiss his lips? Yes, please!

8. But Mark and Juliet's kiss in Love Actually is so unnecessary.

Universal

I will never understand this kiss. Juliet is a happy newlywed! Mark's BFF is her husband! Just because he finally builds up the courage to reveal his feelings doesn't mean she should run into the street and plant a big old kiss on him! I could understand a peck on the cheek, but ON THE LIPS? Nuh-uh, girlfriend. That's too far.

9. Kathryn and Cecile's kiss in Cruel Intentions was a cultural reset.

Columbia

I'll be honest: This is one of the hottest kisses I've ever seen. I know Kathryn is basically the OG Regina George, but this lip action had to be included in the list. Selma Blair + Sarah Michelle Gellar + TONGUE?! Iconic.

10. But Bella and Jacob's big Twilight kiss just hurts everyone involved.

Summit Entertainment

Bella only asks Jacob to kiss her because she's afraid he'll join the battle and die. She's playing with his feelings to persuade him to stay. That's not very nice if you ask me! She's already said she would marry Edward, so why is she kissing Jacob? It's not just the cheating that bothers me (Allie from The Notebook also has a fiancé during her big kiss, and I want to be fair). It's that she's stringing him along. And then he leaves to join the fight anyway! What a mess.

11. Sam and Austin's kiss in A Cinderella Story is a total dream come true.

Warner Bros./ Courtesy Everett Collection

This whole scene is just *chef's kiss*. Austin abandons his cool guy facade of the football jock and rushes up the bleachers to kiss Sam. Remember when she told Austin that waiting for him was like waiting for rain in this drought? As their lips touch, BAM! The heavens open and shower down upon them! The symbolism! Plus, "Hear You Me/May Angels Leave You In" is the perfect background song, and whoever chose it deserves an award.

12. But William and Penny's kiss in Almost Famous is not cool, guys.

DreamWorks

William rushes into the room to find Penny on quaaludes. After calling for a doctor, he holds her up, sways her around in an awkward dance, and says, "I love you, and I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before." Then, he kisses her! When he lets go, she literally slumps onto the floor. It's NEVER OKAY to kiss a girl who isn't in the right state of mind to give consent. And his weird dig about how many men she's kissed is so unnecessary.

13. Chiron and Kevin's kiss in Moonlight is such a beautiful moment.

A24

Some of the kisses on this list are great because of the drama and splashy romance. But this kiss illustrates that it doesn't always have to be a big production! Sometimes, a soft, intense moment can be just as impactful. The slow tenderness of Chiron and Kevin's kiss is part of what makes it so realistic and special.

14. But I just can't get into Josie and Sam's problematic kiss in Never Been Kissed.

20th Century Fox

Yes, the buildup is great, Sam rushes onto the baseball field at the last minute, and all that jazz. But come on, he just spent all this time falling in love with his high school student, who just happened to turn out to be of age. They even danced at prom together before he knew the truth! Sorry, but I'm just not a fan of student-teacher relationships.

15. Lara Jean and Peter's hot tub kiss in To All the Boys is the stuff of teenage dreams.

Netflix

I love how Lara Jean and Peter talk out their problems first. Communication is key, people! This paves the way for a really sweet first kiss. Compliments, gazing into each other's eyes, hot tub, great music...What more can you ask for in a teen flick?

16. But Hedwig and Casey's kiss in Split creeps me out big time.

Universal

James McAvoy's character has 24 distinct personalities, including 9-year-old Hedwig. He asks if he can kiss Casey, a teenager who was kidnapped by Dennis, one of the other personalities. Props to James and Anya Taylor-Joy for their superb acting, but this whole thing is just creepy and sad and weird.

17. Noni and Kaz's kiss in Beyond the Lights is a love letter to every girl's natural hair.

Relativity Media

Kaz is a king for helping Noni deal with her self-esteem and image issues. When she decides to cut off her hair extensions, he walks up to her, gives her a big smooch, and then peppers sweet kisses across her natural hair. I absolutely love this scene because she's finally accepting herself, and her man's being 100% supportive (as he should be).

18. But Claire and Owen's kiss in Jurassic World is pretty selfish.

Universal

The thing that bothers me about this kiss is the timing. Claire and Owen work at the park and are partially responsible for this mess. It's their responsibility to catch a bunch of humongous, scary dinosaurs that are running around and killing people. Is this REALLY the time for a big kiss? I think not. Even Owen, who's a dinosaur expert, almost had his face eaten off! So please save everyone first and worry about romance later, k thanks.

19. And finally, Rose and Jack's kiss in Titanic will go down as one of the best in cinematic history.

20th Century Fox/ Courtesy Everett Collection

I love the buildup to this kiss! Rose notices a mother instructing a little girl on how to behave like a lady, and our heroine decides that she won't let others dictate her life anymore. So she throws caution to the wind, hops onto the front of the ship with Jack, and shares an epic kiss with the man who's captured her heart. Combined with the instrumentals of "My Heart Will Go On," it's such a powerful moment and one of the most iconic kisses of all time.
