“Shake, bruh, you’re a loser,” wrote Deepti Vempati’s brother, Sunny, in an Instagram post.

Not only is love not blind—it isn’t deaf either. After spending the majority of season two disparaging the looks of his ex-fiancée, Deepti Vempati, Love Is Blind’s Abhishek “Shake” Chatterjee is getting flamed online by none other than Vempati’s brother, Sunny: “Shake, bruh, you’re a loser.”

But first, some context. Vempati and Chatterjee initially connected in the pod portion of Love Is Blind—the Netflix dating show where couples famously go on dates without seeing each other—thanks in part to their shared Indian heritage and history of dating white people. That led Chatterjee to propose to Vempati sight unseen. Once the newly engaged couple met face-to-face, it became increasingly clear that there were chemistry issues between the two—mostly because Chatterjee would not stop saying so. Chatterjee was vocal to everyone except Vempati about how he didn’t find Vempati physically attractive, telling both the cameras and other cast members about his struggle to connect with Vempati physically.

Understandably, Vempati’s brother, Sunny, is not too fond of Shake. “Now normally I don’t get involved in drama but I’mma defend my sister here: ‘Shake’, bruh, you’re a loser,” wrote Sunny in a post on Instagram. “You minimized my sister’s life by making some awful and cringeworthy comments about her.”

Sunny continued: “You made these statements knowing your own mom would one day watch it; my parents and my entire family had to sit through you talking behind my sister’s back about insecurities she fought her entire life,” he wrote. “Despite your comments on and off camera about her body, she continued to only ever be supportive of you, despite our best efforts to convince her to see through your BS. THATS the person she is.”

Ultimately, it was Vempati who got the last laugh, leaving Chatterjee at the altar during the season finale. In an interview with Us Weekly, Vempati said Chatterjee wasn’t forthcoming with his feelings about her and that she learned how he really felt from her other castmates. “There’s a lot of things that he said that he didn’t say to my face,” she said. “I just don’t have room for anybody in my life that doesn’t see me in the best way.”

It seems that Vempati and Chatterjee did not end on the best of terms. “I really wanted to be best friends and have that close relationship with him,” Vempati admitted. “But life just didn’t work out that way.” Hope that reservation at Nobu was worth it, Shake.
