It’s the season of thanks and giving, and we are going to celebrate both over the next few days. Our incredible Michigan restaurant industry is in need of a little love right now, and we need your help to give it to them.
This isn’t about who has the best burger or pizza, although some of our nominees might. What we are looking for this time are the restaurants whose staff are consistently generous with their food, their time, their money or their talents. The places that always step up to donate, the spots that are always first to offer to help a charity or a cause, the restaurants that quietly make sure that someone hungry gets a welcome meal.
We want to know your favorite locally-owned restaurants that are an integral part of the community. Maybe they have uplifted and transformed a downtown when they opened. Or maybe they are one of the last remaining businesses that are the heart and soul of a town. Perhaps it’s a spot the whole community counts on for warm conversations over a cup of coffee and a slice of pie. A place that always sponsors the Little League team, or raises money for the neighborhood park, one pint of beer at a time. We’ve heard of places bringing free lunches to schools, loads of food to hospitals, and meals to people who just need a food hug. Maybe there’s a restaurant owner who has sacrificed everything to keep their staff employed, or hired them all back the minute they could.
Our Michigan restaurants have been overwhelmingly generous in the past, and now it is time to return the favor, through a series of “love letters” from you.
Tell us about your favorite restaurant, and what makes them special. We need to know their name, where they are located, and specific examples of what sets them apart. If you have a personal story to share about them, we’d love to hear it. And we’ll be honest, we also would love to know about what’s great to eat there, too. Photos are welcome, and if you send one in, we’ll assume we have permission to use it.
Please send us an email with Love Letter in the subject line.

We can’t wait to share these stories of restaurants that are truly making a difference with you. Restaurants need our support now more than ever, and a few kind words can only add to the love we have for the restaurant industry here in Michigan.
